About the Academy
Five School Structure
What makes the Isle of Sheppey Academy unique is the way it is organised. Although the Academy is providing education for some 2,450 students, there are five separate Schools within the Academy. By placing students into the five smaller learning communities, a greater sense of belonging and security is fostered.
In each of the five schools there is a Family Unit having students from Years 7 to 13. Each Family Unit provides the pastoral support for the students within each School and is the focus not only for inter-school competitions both sporting and cultural, but also the development of what we consider to be key competences:
- Learning
- Citizenship
- Relating to people
- Managing situations
- Managing information
