The Isle of Sheppey Academy
Isle of Sheppey School

Principal's Welcome

I am delighted to introduce the ethos and values of the Isle of Sheppey Academy. Many schools have a lengthy list of worthy aims and objectives. Ours are straight forward. High aspirations, accelerating the pace of learning and nurturing the talents of everyone.

Our ethos for high aspirations and ambition allow a student to identify and maximise their talent. The aim is for every pupil to progress at a rapid pace to a stage where they can become the influential leaders our society and economy requires for tomorrow. Talent, dreams and ambitions are encouraged and applauded!

The curriculum provides both academic and vocational opportunities with the emphasis placed upon individual achievement and fast paced learning. At GCSE and A Level students are able to select academic pathways, vocational routes or a combination of both. We educate for life, not just for employability.

To nurture individual talent there is a strong emphasis upon academic rigour. Our Business specialism plays a pivotal role in reinforcing the characteristics of good communication, numeracy and interpersonal skills. Successful entrepreneurs demonstrate these traits. Our emphasis upon literacy reminds everyone the art of communication pervades all forms of learning and social integration. Reading, writing, listening and speaking are an Academy priority, but so too are Mathematics and numeracy.

We are committed to the all round development of the child. Our new buildings include a community Theatre, drama practice rooms, sports fields, music suites, cookery, vocational workshops and an art studio. Educational visits will help wider learning.

Our values are based upon a broad Christian ethos. An Isle of Sheppey Academy student is expected to know the difference between right and wrong. Everyone is encouraged to develop their personal, social, moral and spiritual values. We seek a happy school environment where students flourish and success is enjoyed.

The distinctive features to the Isle of Sheppey Academy are: children spend more time in lessons; literacy and the art of communication is a priority; the new buildings emphasise disciplined learning; and finally, we value friendship, strong interpersonal relations and teamwork.

When selecting a school you should ask will teachers stretch my child, reward hard work and place a strong emphasis on knowing the difference between right and wrong. If you can answer yes to all of the above you have found the right school.

If you share our ethos and values we welcome your child’s application and look forward to working with you.
