Harty School - Official Opening (6 images)

Harty School was officially opened on 15th June 2010. Head Teacher Ben Corbett and Principal Paul Mortimer welcome head of KCC Paul Carter, Mark Dance of KCC and leading sponsor Ralph Mainard from Dulwich College.

Abbey School - Official Opening (31 images)

Bishop of Dover the Rt Revd Trevor Willmott was guest of honour as Sheppey Academy celebrated the opening of its new school. Bishop Willmott said it was 'fantastic" to be invited to open Abbey Family Unit at the Academy's east site on Thursday (February 25) Abbey's opening ceremony included music, dance and drama performances from the school's 11 to 18 year-old pupils. The highlights were a Haka dance greeting end a superb musical rendition of a song that celebrates the spirit of togetherness, Lean Me. There was also an unveiling of the Abbey School Sculpture - a replica of the island's Minster Abbey made by Syreeta Bowditch from mirrors fitted into a metal frame - in front of audience that included school governors and members of Sittingbourne clergy. Following address, Bishop Willmott praised the Academy's inclusive ethos.

Abbey School - Term 4 (9 images)

Abbey School is opened by the Bishop of Canterbury and Dover, students perform the story of the Abbey. Year 9 students attend a Science and Technology workshop run by STEMNET. Students work with a Creative Partner to develop some 'amazing' images. Year 11 students arrange a charity football match against Harty School to raise money for the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

Abbey School - Term 3 (5 images)

Year 11 students attend a Learning Skills Conference improving their understanding of time management, learning to learn and revision skills. In Family Unit Tme students follow an elective curriculum selecting lessons from the 'Healthy Mind, Healthy Body' module.

Abbey School - Term 2 (5 images)

Abbey School send Christmas gifts to the children of Eastern Europe. Abbey students elect their leadership team. Prefects attend a training seminar to extend their understanding of communication skills. Students attend Remembrance Day event. In Family Unit Time students investigate how development projects will affect their local environment.

Abbey School - Term 1 (6 images)

Abbey students work together to get to know each other in Family Unit groups, working on a project called 'Self'. Family Unit Time activities include cooking, golf, team building, developing displays for Year 7 parents evening and establishing the 'Abbey Values'.
